We are expanding these sustainable energy solutions with ground, water and carport projects throughout Europe and set up offices in Germany and France. At this moment Sunrock has more than 1 GW of solar generation in development, but that’s not all! Sunrock is expanding its business into new territories by developing new energy management services, (large scale) battery energy storage systems and setting up its own Energy Trading desk.
The internship
Sunrock has developed in-house software tools for the technical and economical sizing of battery energy storage systems and multi-asset energy solutions. The team is looking for a motivated intern to further improve and add additional features to the applications. Some of the topics are:
- Improve the EV charging profile based on public datasets. This will improve the accuracy of the application and the sizing of the multi-asset energy solutions.
- Improve the heat pump model to better capture the impact of fluctuating outside temperatures on the power demand. Besides improving the accuracy of the tools, it will also open new possibilities for active heat pump control.
- Adding multi-scenario functionalities to the applications. This functionality should enable business and project developers to simulate several scenarios at once to reduce iterative workflow.
- Adding compatibility for Sunrock Germany.
During your internship, you’ll be part of Sunrock’s innovation department where you will be working within the Data Intel team.
As a Research Intern, you will:
- take ownership of your research, including showcasing your ability to work autonomously and make a meaningful contribution
- actively engage with the Data team, contributing to a vibrant and collaborative work environment
- engage in a diverse range of activities alongside the Data team, gaining exposure to real client cases and broadening your skill set.

- Experience with Python or MATLAB.
