The Impact:
The position offers an exciting mix of responsibilities for someone with a keen interest in supporting the analytical team in financial analysis and public finance, as well as opportunities to acquire and develop new skills. It offers interaction with S&P analysts in EMEA and globally. Tasks include research duties (develop and maintain a centralized sources of information), working on specific research projects (ad hoc projects, industry monitoring), spreadsheet and database duties (collect and maintain information and data for keeping databases updated) and publishing support.

You will work with junior and senior analysts within S&P Global and senior management of issuing entities through the ratings process (including ratings committees and management meetings). The successful candidate will support rating analysts in their analytical work, primarily on local and regional governments and government-related entities in France, but also in other European countries, and occasionally on sovereigns or supranationals.

You will be trained by the Sovereign and International Public Finance team members to familiarize yourself with our analytics, rating criteria, processes, systems and databases, and corporate policies.

Responsibilities:

Learn and understand ratings criteria and methodology
-
Assist with preparing required documents for rating committee and issuer management meetings

Provide timely and accurate financial statistics and data analysis

Assist in reporting, research, presentations and modelling

Support the team on improvement in execution and ad-hoc writing projects

All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.

We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

Basic Required Qualifications

Postgraduates & Undergraduates, including students in public policy, finance or economics, with an understanding of institutional, economic, budgetary, and debt dynamics for local and regional governments, sovereigns, supranationals and for related public entities. The position is full-time.

You must reside in the location of the internship throughout its entire duration (Paris, France).

You must have the right to work in the country of proposed employment (France).

Strong numerical skills, supported by the ability to quickly absorb, analyze, and act upon information is required to maintain and enhance the quality and timeliness of our analysis. For example, adept with Excel and other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Strong organizational skills. Problem-solving, time-management and attention to detail. Ability to work across teams within S&P Global Ratings, with a desire for continuous improvement and innovation, whilst adhering to established ratings criteria, methodology, policies and procedures. We operate in a highly regulated environment.

Able to learn quickly, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. The ability and the desire to learn to conduct your own analysis and research, showing initiative and resourcefulness.

Excellent French (preferably native) and English oral and written communication skills. Additional languages spoken in the team’s coverage area (Italian, Spanish) would be an asset.
