Overview

This team is seeking a Compliance and Governance intern, who is a matrix thinker, to assist on a wide variety of tasks daily. Working directly alongside the head of Compliance and the operations team, you will help ensure that legal requirements for SCOR’s insurance companies writing program business are satisfied.

The SCOR portfolio includes a wide variety of insurance categories for businesses. To name a few: Builders Risk, Businessowners (known as “BOP” which combines protection from all major property and liability risks in one package), Commercial Auto Liability & Property Damage, Motor Truck Cargo, General Liability, Professional Liability, Errors & Omissions, Equine coverages, Inland Marine, Catastrophe coverage for Earthquake, Hail, Hurricane, Wind, Flood; and Excess Liabilities. 

SCOR’s business compliance team ensures we comply with state, federal laws and regulations for all business categories and implement new requirements. Essentially monitoring all facets of the business to continue to grow our program business.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that SCOR’s insurance companies comply with internal requirements, and with state and federal laws and regulations.  
  • Research the compliance implications of new products and enhancements.  
  • Support the activities of collection of tax, surcharges and fees information for various States - liaising with the Program Business underwriters and operations team, and SCOR’s Tax & Accounting department. 
  • Monitor the validity of business licenses of our external Program Administrators. 
  • Contribute to activities in response to states’ data calls in coordination with SCOR Legal, Accounting and Claims. 
  • Assist in preparation of data and reporting requirements documentation/templates used both internally and externally. 
  • Work closely with the head of Compliance in documenting departmental policies and procedures to build a stronger departmental framework and retaining knowledge to adhere to Risk Management company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • In junior or senior year of an undergraduate degree program or completed first year of graduate studies 
  • Exceptional academic performance (3.0 or higher GPA)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills  
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team orientated approach 
  • Willingness to be flexible and learn a variety of new skills quickly 
  • Must be self-motivated, hardworking, analytical and proactive  
  • Must be able to work well with individuals at all levels within the organization 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced global and multi-cultural environment

Cost/funding for participants

Pay Range: $25.50 - 27.50 hourly rate. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees.
