Overview

As a student, the UNIDO Internship Programme provides you with a great opportunity to tackle challenging assignments, utilizing the combination of theoretical knowledge and on-the-job training you will acquire. The programme also allows you to attain insight on how attempts are made to solve problems confronting developing economies in the area of industrialization.

An internship varies from 3 to 6 months and can be extended up to 9 months.

When can I apply for an internship?

You can apply for a UNIDO internship at anytime. Doing so, your name will be added to the list of applicants interested in the internship field of your choice. When the need for a new intern in a particular area arises, we will draw on the list of applicants of that respective field.

Please note that applications should be submitted no earlier than 6 months before the start of the intended period.

Description of Ideal Candidate

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Age: between 21 and 35 years old. 
  2. Education: either enrolled in a university degree programme or; begin the internship within a year of completing a Master's degree or; have a Bachelor's degree and be sponsored as part of an academic or development programme. Applications without the uploaded relevant and valid university certificates (proof of enrollment and/or university degree) and at least one Reference/Recommendation Letter will not be considered.
  3. Languages: good working knowledge of English. Knowledge of other official United Nations languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Russian) is an asset.
  4. Nationality: nationals of UNIDO Member States have priority.

Cost/funding for participants

The intern does not receive any financial assistance. Costs and arrangements for travel, visa, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern, or his/her nominating or sponsoring institutions (if applicable).
