Act Like A Local in Netherlands
One thing you will notice upon arriving in the Netherlands is that everyone seems to be on bikes. Both locals and foreigners use bikes as one of their main means of transportation in the Netherlands. So when you get the chance, try to feel the breeze and move from place to place like a local by using a bike and utilizing the country’s well-designated bike lanes.
Dress like a local by putting on a zip-up hoodie with solid colors or cool patterns. For females please leave your stilettos at home because boots with wide heels is the thing in the Netherlands. The city streets are generally flat but have hand-laid cobblestone in some areas that may not be friendly to pointy heels. Ladies, your tights may come in handy too, so bring them along!
Await the King’s Day and take pleasure in your surroundings as the city turns into a big party where you can see people in their finest orange outfits in celebration of the holiday. Enjoy the scenery of children playing musical instruments in exchange for some donations and stalls set up here and there selling home made cakes to old toys.
