6th ASEF Young Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS6)

The Society 5.0 concept describes a human-centered society that balances economic advancement with the resolution of social problems by a system that highly integrates cyberspace and physical space. ASEFYLS will explore what kind of leadership is needed for Society 5.0 and how young people can prepare with ethical, inclusive and sustainable values. 

It aims to give #Youth the opportunity to:

• Receive Training from Experts: With a focus on Leadership and Society 5.0 from world-leading institutions and experts
• Collaborate in Diverse Groups: Bring your enthusiasm, knowledge and skills to propose solutions to real-life challenges facing society
• Contribute to Decision-Making: Bring the youth voice into the multilateral policy arena. Be Part of the ASEF Youth Report.
• Access an Asian and European Youth Network: Making life-long friends and opening doors for cross-regional collaboration and exchang.

WHAT WILL #ASEFYLS6 LOOK LIKE?

The ASEFYLS6 programme will take place from July to October 2025, consisting of 3 phases with the aim to give participants the opportunity to learn, to collaborate and to turn theory into action: (1) the Knowledge Building Phase; (2) the Leadership in Action Phase and (3) the Youth Summit.

1. Knowledge Building: 29 July - 26 August 2025, Virtual

Through e-learning and virtual collaboration platforms, the Knowledge Building phase will bring participants together over 5 weeks, fusing theory, training and policy.

This in-depth knowledge journey and peer-to-peer exploration into Leadership and Society 5.0 will have weekly online sessions.

Participants will also get to join dialogues with High-Level Leaders. 

2. Leadership in Action Phase: 27 August - 28 September 2025, Virtual

The ASEFYLS encourages participants to demonstrate their leadership through action: by collaborating together to find best practice solutions for real-life global challenges. 

During this phase participants will work in teams to collect case studies from across Asia & Europe on how technology is used to solve societal challenges. 

These case studies will be presented at the Youth Summit, and collated into a publication.

3. Youth Summit: 29 September - 5 October 2025, Osaka, Japan

The Youth Summit will bring all the participants together in-person in Osaka, Japan for a programme full of people-to-people dialogue exchanges, networking, and learning in a local context. The participants will present their case studies from the Leadership in Action Phase on the main stage at the World Expo 2025.
