Details

Spend a life-changing year in London enhancing your resume with international work experience, growing your business network and making sure you can walk into a top job with future employers.

We welcome incredible professionals to London every March and September, providing a career-boosting work placement in a world-class company and an opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture of London and Europe. Alongside the practical on-the-job training our Mountbattens get, they also study for a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration. This combination of academic knowledge and practical skills is one of the unique features of the Mountbatten experience.

Outside of their work placement and study our trainees like to explore the city and the rest of Europe, making the most of their #MountbattenLife. From museums to open air markets, trips to France, Amsterdam or Italy, they like to jam-pack their free time and create unforgettable moments.

Our alumni describe their 12-months as the best year of their lives, making lifelong friends, enjoying local traditions and fulfilling their professional potential. When we asked our alumni whether Mountbatten had helped their career 97% gave a strong yes. At the end of the 12-months our trainees walk away with a distinctive resume that helps them stand out in an increasingly competitive job market.

The Placement

Kickstart your global career

From scale-ups to FTSE 100 companies, we work in partnership with some of London’s most exciting businesses, connecting them with the brightest international talent. Since our inception in 1984, we have matched more than 7,000 of our trainees with companies such as Barclays, BlackRock, Citi, HSBC, Thomson Reuters and more. Giving our trainees the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in a leading business and shape their global resume.

Get ready for the future of work

Build your skills, network, resume and potential with practical training. You’ll be given roles with real responsibility ranging across finance, business operations, marketing and communications, events and HR. You’ll access senior members of the London business community, develop your personal brand, and take the first steps to becoming a leader of tomorrow.

The Placement Process

We work with our partner companies to match the right candidates to their placement. Our partners select who they would like to interview based on your resume, so make sure you’re selling yourself in the right way.

Given an interview? Now what? Read over your placement spec, do as much research on the business as you can, and prepare to match your skills to the placement. At this stage, it’s in your hands to turn your dream of 12-months in London into a reality.

Once you’re offered a placement by one of our partners, you’re officially moving to London for the year. We’ll coordinate your visa paperwork and prepare for your arrival.

Mountbatten is an approved academic partner of the University of Chester; one of the oldest British Institutions devoted to Higher Education in the UK.
