Description of the department

The Fund Management intern will join the private equity real estate - fund management team within AXA IM Alts. The management team, based in Paris, is responsible for discretionary funds and several mandates representing over €20bn of assets under management across Europe.

The successful candidate will report to the team manager and support the team in various tasks such as monitoring fund performance, implementing investment and/or arbitrage strategies (acquisitions/divestments), and financial strategy.  
Through these assignments, the trainee will gain a better understanding of the responsibilities of a real estate fund manager in managing real estate funds to meet investor expectations.

Your role and responsibilities will include

Day-to-day management:  

  • Assist the fund managers in the day-to-day management of the funds, including monitoring of real estate portfolio and fund performance, financing and liquidity management. 
  • Analysis of transactions and disposals:
    • Participate in the review of transactions in all asset classes (offices, retail, hotels, residential, logistics, etc.) and in Europe.
    • Model cash flows using scenario and sensitivity analyses.
    • Assist manager on acquisition structure and financing where appropriate.
  • Update the fund's cash flow model (Discounted Cash Flow).
  • Participate in defining the fund's financial policy (leverage, hedging).
  • Prepare presentations for investors.
  • Analysis of transactions and disposals:
    • Participate in the review of transactions in all asset classes (offices, retail, hotels, residential, logistics, etc.) and in Europe.
    • Model cash flows using scenario and sensitivity analyses.
    • Assist manager on acquisition structure and financing where appropriate.

Profile

Education/Qualifications

  • Top business school, engineering school. Specialization in finance or real estate can be a plus
  • Previous experience/s in investment banking, private equity, real estate investing preferred and/or top tier consulting firms
  • End-of-studies internship

Knowledge and skills

  • Fluent English speaker, and ideally advanced level of another European language (i.e. French, German and/or Italian)
  • Advanced Excel skills (modeling) and Power Point
  • Strong interest in the investments industry and real estate sector
  • Team spirit, ability to work in a stimulating environment, curiosity about the subject, willingness to learn and develop in a constantly evolving environment.
