Details
The Finance Unit coordinates and manages the Agency’s financial resources to ensure adequate resourcing of the operations, as well as efficient planning and implementation of the Agency's budget.
Assignment
The successful trainee will support the different teams of the Finance unit and will assist daily to the Budget and Business Support Team in implementing the Agency’s budget, thus contributing to achieve the objectives as set in ECHA’s Work Programme. More specifically, the successful applicant will get the opportunity to understand the budget structure and financial rules of an EU Decentralised Agency and learn to use the European Commission financial application (ABAC).
His/her assignment will entail primarily the following tasks (depending on the candidate’s profile):
- Initiate invoices in ABAC system ensuring their financial and procedural correctness, i.e. conformity with the contracts and relevant regulations and circulating them via the electronic workflow (EasySign);
- Explore and learn the use of the main tool used in ECHA to circulate financial documents;
- Ensure that financial queries and needs from other business units are supported in an efficient and customer-oriented manner;
- Preparing VAT exemption certificates upon request;
- Contribute to updating the Finance unit internal webpages;
- Contribute to cross-Unit projects in different areas of financial management;
- Update the procurement caselaw file;
- Update procurement templates (if developed by DG BUDG);

Profile
- Completed university degree in a field, relevant to the tasks (e.g. finance, accounting, economics, business administration, law);
- Analytical capabilities and attention to detail;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency in MS Office (specifically Excel);
- Aptitude for team work as well as cooperative and service-oriented attitude;
- Good English skills both written and spoken (as this is the working language of the Agency).

Cost/funding for participants
- The graduate trainee scheme offers a grant.
- Trainees who continue to receive remuneration from their employer, or any other grant or allowance will only be entitled to a grant from ECHA if the amount they receive is less than the one indicated above. In this case, trainees will receive an amount equal to the difference between their income and the level of ECHA's grant.
- Trainees in employment must provide a declaration of remuneration, expenses and allowances signed by their employer.
