Details
The Data Management and Analysis Unit oversees regulatory data management and the integration with other data submitted to the agency, e.g. industry data. We develop harmonised formats and applications for collecting data such as the International Uniform Chemical Information Database (IUCLID). We also develop applications for data analysis, case management and supports ECHA processes design and priority setting.
Assignment
We are looking for a motivated trainee to support the Product Management team of IUCLID, a leading database software used worldwide to collect and manage regulatory chemicals information. The trainee will help us design, structure, and improve our interview process for identifying requirements from a wide range of stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, industry users, and technical experts.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product management and user research within a highly impactful regulatory technology environment.
The work will include:
- Assist the Product Management team in defining and documenting an interview framework to collect stakeholder requirements.
- Support the preparation of interview guides, questionnaires, and supporting materials.
- Help schedule, organize, and (where relevant) observe stakeholder interviews.
- Contribute to analyzing and synthesizing input gathered from stakeholders into clear requirements.
- Participate in workshops, sprint reviews, and backlog refinement sessions to understand how stakeholder feedback is translated into product improvements.
- Support reporting and presentation of findings to internal and external audiences.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, business analysts, and UX specialists.

Profile
- Current student or recent graduate in Product Management, Business Analysis, UX, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong interest in requirements engineering, user research, and product lifecycle management.
- Basic understanding of software development or database systems (knowledge of regulatory chemicals information is a plus).
- Good analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional EU languages are an asset).
- Ability to work collaboratively in an international, multidisciplinary environment.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn about regulatory data management and IUCLID’s role in chemicals legislation.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on problem-solving.
- Comfortable handling diverse stakeholders and technical topics.

Cost/funding for participants
- The graduate trainee scheme offers a grant.
- Trainees who continue to receive remuneration from their employer, or any other grant or allowance will only be entitled to a grant from ECHA if the amount they receive is less than the one indicated above. In this case, trainees will receive an amount equal to the difference between their income and the level of ECHA's grant.
- Trainees in employment must provide a declaration of remuneration, expenses and allowances signed by their employer.
