Organizational Setting
The Division of Information Technology provides support to the IAEA in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), including information systems for technical programmes and management. It is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing an ICT strategy, for setting and enforcing common ICT standards throughout the Secretariat and for managing central ICT services. The IAEA's ICT infrastructure comprises hardware and software platforms, and cloud and externally hosted services. The Division has implemented an IT service management model based on ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) and Prince2 (Projects in a Controlled Environment) best practices.
Main Purpose
Under the supervision of the Chief Data Officer (CDO) and working closely with the Data Architect, Data Analysts, and Data Engineers, the Intern will gain hands-on experience in supporting various data management and governance activities. This internship offers an opportunity to contribute to the execution of data strategy initiatives, learn about business analysis, data architecture and governance, including Snowflake data platform, and understand the fundamentals of project coordination within the organization.
Functions / Key Results Expected
- Support Data Analysts by performing basic data analysis tasks, generating reports, and creating visualizations to aid in decision-making processes.
- Support team members in collaborating with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and use cases and assist in designing and implementing solutions that align with organizational goals.
- Assist team members in analyzing business processes and workflows to identify data-related improvement potentials based on business needs.
- Support team members on the preparation of materials ahead of meetings, facilitate and participate actively in them.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of documentation related to data management and governance processes, data use cases, policies, and procedures.
- Support Data Architect in gathering information on best practices in data management and present findings to the team to help inform data strategy decisions.
- Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of data to ensure its quality and readiness for analysis.
- Provide ad hoc support to the team, as required.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business, Data Science, Management, Statistics, or related field.
- Basic understanding of data management, data/business analysis, statistics, cloud data platforms and/or software development.
- Good understanding of business intelligence development, preferably using Power BI
- Good business acumen.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work productively and maintain effective relationships in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
- Ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
Applicant Eligibility
- Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years of age and have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree.
- Candidates may apply up to one year after the completion of a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree.
- Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA's internship programme.
- Good written and spoken English essential; fluency in any other IAEA official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian) an asset.
- Candidates must attach two signed letters of recommendation to their application.
