PLACEMENT AND DURATION
The Sales & Trading Off-Cycle Internship Program is an opportunity to experience the culture and atmosphere in the Sales & Trading Division by taking on some of the roles and responsibilities of a Full-time Analyst for a period. The Program length is approximately six months. You will be assigned to the Morgan Stanley IED Business Control Unit Non-Financial Risk desk where you will directly support the team including undertaking projects to broaden your understanding, as well as improve the productivity and efficiency of the desk.
The Business Control Unit (“BCU”) is a First Line of Defence function which includes Counterparty Risk and Non-Financial Risk (BCU NFR). The BCU NFR team serves as the IED escalation point for non-financial risks, which includes conduct, legal, regulatory, operational, technology, franchise, compliance, and reputational risks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operational risk management activities – Support operational risk management activities, including but not limited to the Risk and Control Self Assessments (“RCSA”), operational risk metrics and monitoring incident reporting.
- Fraud Risk management – Support in establishing controls, processes and technology to supervise activities conducted by IED’s employees, including trade surveillance, monitoring and supervision.
- Conduct Risk management – Support in establishing controls and processes to manage the risk associated with the conduct of IED’s individual employees and contingent workers, including identifying, escalating and remediating conduct risk incidents.
- Business Continuity Planning (“BCP”) – Support with establishing and testing Business Continuity Plans for the IED businesses including performing Business Impact Analyses.
- New Product Approval (“NPA”) – Facilitate, as required, the NPA process to manage IED’s New Products and related risks, with responsibilities as outlined in the Global NPA Policy.
- Delegate Supervisory Program – Support supervisors in fulfilling their regulatory obligations via maintenance of controls for managing compliance and business conduct risk (e.g., employee trading, mandatory vacation adherence, etc.), as well as surveillance related to market conduct, regulatory compliance and fraud.
- Information Security / Entitlements – Review, monitor, and manage controls related to information security and data leakage, supplier security, entitlements for Firm and client information, and Segregation of Duties (“SOD”) rules and possible conflicts.
- Electronic Trading Risk Management (“ETRM”) – Manage risk specific to electronic trading including policy implementation, identification of risks, review and approval of trading algorithms and management of desk specific pre trade limits.
- Regulatory Implementation - Partner with Legal, Compliance and IED Management to ensure that new or changing regulatory requirements, risks and inquiries are understood and implemented effectively across the division.
- Implementation of risk initiatives – Facilitate, as required, regulatory and non-regulatory risk initiatives for the business.
- Documentation – Draft and negotiate documentation for a variety of derivative products.
- Coverage – general coverage of the business relative to risk related questions, issues, and initiatives.
This Off-Cycle internship is available in our Morgan Stanley Paris office.
