PURPOSE
The Sustainability Trainee is expected to gain a deep understanding of sustainability principles through hands-on experience by supporting various sustainability projects with different stakeholders. The focus is on supporting SBM’s efforts to integrate environmental sustainability practices across different areas, while learning about SBM organization.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
- Learning and Development: Gaining a deep understanding of sustainability principles through hands-on experience and training
- Project Support: Assisting in various sustainability projects, ensuring milestones and timelines
- Data Collection and Analysis: Gathering and analyzing data related to sustainability metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with internal stakeholders to promote and implement sustainability initiatives
- Innovation and Improvement: Identifying opportunities for new sustainability initiatives and improvements in existing practices. Conduct research and analysis on environmental sustainability issues and trends
- Communication and report: Communicate and report findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Recent Engineering, Environmental Science or a related degree required, preferably obtained within the last 2 years;
- Good understanding of environmental regulations and frameworks (IFC, IMO, ISO);
- Ability and desire to travel internationally;
- Capable of undertaking challenging assignments and possess quality leadership;
- Computer literate in all standard software applications, very good command of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases;
- Proficient in English (verbal and written);
- Have a demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to be tolerant of differing opinions and views;
- Organization and communication skills (both written and verbally).
