Overview

We are recruiting for a Policy Intern to support our advocacy efforts to reform the money and banking system. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in policy within the context of economic reform. You will report to the Head Policy and focus on supporting our work with the European Central Bank (ECB) and the engagement with EU policymakers.

Positive Money is a think tank and campaign organisation working to reimagine our money and banking system for the wellbeing of people, communities and the planet. We have offices in London and Brussels, and are part of a growing movement for economic systems change. We collaborate with policymakers, the public and economists around the world to redesign our economic system for social justice and a liveable planet.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Assist in the development of policy briefs and position papers, blogs, and other advocacy materials

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to our mission, with a focus on the political debate around the ECB’s climate action, digital euro and sustainable finance

  • Support outreach efforts to build relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, other NGOs, ECB and NCB officials

  • Assist in the preparation of meetings, events and presentations for public speaking engagements

  • Provide general administrative support to the policy team, including scheduling meetings, managing documentation, and maintaining databases

Person Specification

  • Commitment to Positive Money’s mission and commitment to learning about our culture (see our values and principles of work), including our anti-oppression work 

  • Knowledge of EU regulatory and political landscape

  • Willingness to learn about the EU monetary policy and financial system

  • Desire to develop skills across policy, campaigns, and public affairs

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, completing tasks in line with priorities and timelines set by the Head of Policy, while collaborating with the team

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills; an additional European language is a plus

  • Previous internship experience is a plus

Cost/funding for participants

Terms and Conditions

  • Contract: 6 months (Contrat d’Immersion Professionnel)
  • Remuneration:
    • €1,200/month
    • €55/month for transportation costs
    • Meal vouchers (€8 per worked day)
    • DKV insurance (ambulatory and hospitalisation)
  • Location: Flexible between working in our Brussels office (Square Ambiorix 10, 1000, Brussels) and working from home in Belgium
  • Hours: ideally full time but we can be flexible for the right candidate
