This position reports to the Aerodynamics Physical Testing Group Team Leader or their designee; is located in Maranello, Italy. Responsible for supporting the analysis of aerodynamic behaviour, performance, and correlation activities, with a focus on Wind Tunnel and Bench testing, complemented by exposure to Track and CFD environments. Key responsibilities include assisting with analysis, modelling, correlation studies, performance evaluation, and supporting testing excellence and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Support senior engineers in analysing Wind Tunnel and Bench test data by preparing datasets, running predefined scripts, and performing initial checks.
  • Assist with the day‑to‑day organisation of Wind Tunnel and Bench sessions, including preparation of test requests, basic instrumentation checks, and post‑test data consolidation.
  • Help carry out performance evaluations of development steps, identifying trends and behaviours.
  • Contribute to basic correlation tasks by comparing datasets across Wind Tunnel, Bench, Track, and CFD using established tools and methods.
  • Assist in maintaining the Aerodynamic Model (Aero‑Catalogue) by processing raw data,
  • updating reference files, and ensuring consistency across datasets.
  • Help track testing quality and data reliability by logging issues, documenting observations, and reporting anomalies to the team.
  • Support improvements to tools and workflows by updating scripts, preparing documentation, and performing simple automation tasks.
  • Perform fundamental aerodynamic analyses to address specific questions from development groups, using templates and guided approaches.
  • Contribute to cross‑department communication by preparing clear summaries, plots, and reports for discussions with Aero Development, Performance, Engineering, CFD, and Software
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Aerodynamics Physical Testing Group Team Leader or their designee.

Description of Ideal Candidate

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Focus on aerodynamics is preferred.
  • Previous internship, thesis project, or placement in motorsport or aerodynamics is beneficial.
  • Formula 1 experience is advantages. 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Have an excellent understanding of English language.
  • True team orientation is essential, demonstrated through a genuine, collaborative, transparent, and respectful attitude.
  • Positive and proactive approach with openness to feedback and a sincere willingness to support others
  • Foundational understanding of aerodynamics and fluid dynamics.
  • Motivation to contribute to initiatives that enhance overall car performance.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematical modelling, machine learning, or statistics principles is desirable.
  • Analytical mindset with a structured approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to maintain high standards under pressure and tight deadlines.

Equipment and Applications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering tools.
  • Basic proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++) for data processing, analysis, or automation.
  • Knowledge of data acquisition systems or telemetry analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with CFD and CAD software (e.g., CATIA/3DX).
