Overview

Tenzing is excited to be looking for talented and ambitious operators to join our Sherpa Programme. The Programme is a unique career accelerator in private equity designed for individuals ready to take a significant step forward and make a tangible impact in our businesses.

Details

The idea of the Programme is this:

  • We recruit entrepreneurial, commercial all-rounders and embed one into each of our portfolio companies. You will work directly for the CEO, at the heart of value creation for the company's new growth cycle.
  • We call this The Sherpa Programme. Your role will be similar to Tenzing Norgay, who was Sir Edmund Hilary's Sherpa for the summit of Everest; you will support our CEOs as they climb and overcome their own Everest.

Sherpas come from diverse backgrounds, bringing a unique combination of skills to Tenzing. What unites all Sherpas is that they are driven self-starters who want to make a big difference in the Tenzing portfolio as much as they do in their own career.

You can read more about the Programme and the impact Sherpas have in our portfolio here.  Key Responsibilities The Sherpa role is dynamic and multifaceted but in two bullets, we say the objective of a Tenzing Sherpa is to:

  • Facilitate the realisation of business value for our leaders by propelling companies towards faster and more significant growth. Collaborate closely with CEOs and their leadership teams, guiding the design and implementation of impactful changes in their organisations.
  • Work with your CEO and their leadership team to embed and execute new projects, delivering strategic insights and recommendations for sustained success.

For a in-depth overview of the role and greater insight into the Sherpa experience, please review the PDF found at the bottom of this page.  Our Recruitment Approach We run an open application process, inviting candidates to share their interest in the programme with us at anytime. More flexibility means more chances to welcome outstanding individuals into our portfolio.

So what happens next?

  • We review CVs as we receive them, offering high-potential candidates the chance to stay in touch and be notified when interview processes kick-off
  • We aim to let you know if your profile is a potential fit within 2-3 weeks of you sharing your application with us
  • If we are running a process at the time you apply, you will be considered in that process, and we will update this job post accordingly
  • If we are not running a process at the time you apply, and you have the right profile to be a Sherpa (and you agree to staying in touch) we keep your details in our talent pipeline and you are the first to know when we are ready to run another process

About Tenzing

As a private equity investor in high-growth UK and Northern European SMEs valued between £10m and £200m, we work with niche market leaders and challenger businesses - ones that can transform themselves and disrupt the market in which they operate.

Named after Tenzing Norgay, the Nepalese mountaineer who guided Sir Edmund Hillary in the first-ever ascent of Mount Everest, his story represents our drive to support our portfolio businesses in reaching the summit of their ambitions, each and every time.

We love supporting, inspiring and investing alongside high energy, high-performance management teams and know what it takes to be a real partner - because we’ve done it ourselves. We’ve run businesses on credit cards. We’ve lain awake on a Sunday night thinking about what’s next. We’ve had our frustrations and made mistakes, but we’ve also had our successes, and we would love to share all of that with you.
