Overview
Established in 1874, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), with its headquarters in the Swiss capital Berne, is the second oldest international organization worldwide. With its 192 member countries, the UPU is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services.
Details
The UPU Internship Program is exclusively open to students and very recent graduates from any region in the world that have a background in any fields of interest to UPU, such as macro-economics, international relations, communications, e-business, IT-IS, marketing, statistics, finance, translations, etc.
An internship provides an excellent opportunity to students or very recent graduates to learn about the Organization, and to complement their educational background through practical work.
Duration
An internship is naturally limited to a fixed period of 2 to 6 months, except in special instances depending on the internship conditions set out by the educational institution where the student is enrolled or for research internships related to the preparation of a doctoral thesis.
Interns/trainees may not apply or be engaged for posts at the International Bureau for a period of six months following the end of their internship. They may not accumulate internships over several years. There must be a minimum interval of two years between the first and second internships, except in specific circumstances relating to the nature of the intern’s studies (the transition from university to doctoral or postdoctoral study).

Eligibility
The minimum requirements considered for a UPU internships are the following:
- Age: 1) minimum 20 years of age for a trainee from a university or any other higher educational institutions; 2) 18 years of age for students originating from a vocational or technical institution (apprenticeship).
- Graduated within six months of the date of the announcement.
- Very good knowledge of spoken and written French or English.
- A proven track record of achievements, supported by copies or certificates from the university or other specialized institutions.
