CV Format in Australia

Your CV allows you to introduce yourself in a comprehensive way. Some countries may advise that you keep it within 2 pages, but Aussie employers are actually interested in seeing two to three pages for someone who is new in the workforce and around three to five pages for someone with several work experience already. Although you can say that Aussies appreciate your background, please don’t include those credentials from 10 years ago, they are mostly interested to know the professional that you are today.

Here are the necessary parts that should be present in your CV:

Parts of your CV

Content

Heading

With or without a heading is okay. But should you prefer one, just type in ‘Curriculum Vitae.’ Not unless requested, you may skip including a photo in your heading.

Personal Information

This should contain your full name, contact details, email address. This doesn’t need a subheading, and should just be written on top of your document.

Career Objective

If you are a newly grad, it’s helpful that you have this section here. However if you have already worked several times, a career overview is preferable.

Professional Experience

This is where your employer focuses, make sure you have a consistent structure that includes your job title, the name of your employer, dates, a brief discussion of your job description, and awards you received from performances.

Educational Background & Trainings Attended

List your educational background from your highest education attainment first. You may also include the seminars and training you took under this portion. Avoid irrelevant information that may not be value-adding to your application.

Skills

Under this section, you may indicate the languages you speak, your technical skills, computer skills, and other related abilities that your interviewer may find helpful in the job you are applying for.

Professional Memberships

Include only the relevant memberships to your job and a brief description of your participation in your professional group.

Just take note, keep your CV brief and relevant to the job you are applying for. Keep it neat and have it printed on high-quality paper. Below are samples of CVs in Australia you may want to check out:
