Act Like A Local in Norway

The country’s natural structures and various coast stretches have greatly influenced the Norwegians’ daily living. Outdoor activities are central to the life of a local and most would appreciate taking public transportation. Take the ferry and explore several cities in the country like a local. The ferry ride from different city points of Norway is one of the most notable experiences in the country.

When traveling, take note that you should bring a Norwegian Krone. Although locals in the country are starting to use less and less cash, some establishments may still fail to accept credit cards. Travel and shop like a local by bringing enough cash, but also a card to swipe for more convenience in doing payments.

Norway enjoys all four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. But take note that the country’s temperature may be unusually low in comparison to other countries, always be ready to put on your jacket when changing cities, and regularly check weather forecasts prior to your travel.

You’ll be surprised how much Norwegians love camping! Get your local friends and pitch a tent where you get the most awesome views of nature. Apparently, you can camp almost anywhere in Norway, and locals do this often here! Just note that when you pitch your tent, you’re at least 150 meters away from the nearest residential home or cabin.

Finally, get to know the local cuisine! Try out Surkal, a dish popularly known as Norwegian; it is a mix of sweet and sour slices of cabbage. Perhaps you can also try the local flatbread they call Lefse. These breads look like tortillas and are consumed with butter and cinnamon. Norwegian cuisine is not complex, but can be very enjoyable when explored! So invite your friends out for lunch and blend with them over local dishes.
