Work Visas in Qatar
If you’ve already found a job opportunity in Qatar, your next step is to formalize your entry through permits and visas. Since it is your employer’s responsibility to secure your work permit and residence permit, your task is to be able to enter the country. You may check in this link if your country is one of those who enjoys visa-free entry or would obtain their visa upon arrival in Qatar. It is assumed that you already have an employment contract with an employer before you arrive in Qatar for work. Once you arrive in the country using a valid Visit Visa, your employer can replace it with a valid Work Visa. The following documents may be required from you:
- A valid passport with expiration dated after your anticipated exit from Qatar
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Round trip ticket reservations
- Proof of accommodation
- Employment contract
- A medical certificate
How to Apply & Other Notes:
- Once you’ve processed your Visit Visa it is your employer’s responsibility to secure you a work and residence permit.
- The Qatar work and residence permit may be obtained through your employer. They are also the one responsible for its annual renewal.
- Should your application be for a Work Residence Visa, it will cost QAR 200 and your employer will issue you a temporary visa while you’re waiting for its release.
- Additional documents may be asked from you when applying for a Work Residence Visa, and you will be required to do medical examinations and tests for Hepatitis and HIV.
- Once you’ve obtained your Work and Residence Permit, you may start looking for a place to stay long-term, and register yourself to access government services.
