Housing in Russia
It is not pretty easy to find a house to stay in Russia. Most successful lease contracts are done through a real estate agent. Should one prefer not to go through an agent to skip the service fee that would go around 70% -100% of a month’s rent, there is a high risk of ending up with a scam transaction. It is preferred that you hire an agent once you’ve found an ideal home in your desired location. You may find some real estate service providers in Russian real estate websites such as Housing Agent and Beatrix.

Once you’ve already found a property to rent, get in touch with a real estate agent to help you out on signing a contract with the landlord. Lease contract in Russia may or may not indicate the duration of your lease, in this case, it doesn’t limit the tenant whether she extends longer than a year, provided that a notice of cancellation will be provided three months prior to termination of contract. Should the duration be definite then the terms may be agreed upon by both parties during the contract signing. Don’t forget to carry with you your identification documents such as your passport or visa, for it might be required by the landlord.
