Internship Visa in Russia

If you are about to work for a company for an internship, then you should check if your home country needs any visa at all. Most countries except CIS countries would usually be required to have the appropriate visa to be able to work in Russia. For internships you will be applying for a Russian Work Visa. This type of visa will allow you to do paid work as an intern for a company. The following requirements will be needed:

  • Accomplished Russian Visa Online Application form that you may also print out
  • A valid passport valid  6 months after the date of exit from Russia
  • An invitation from the company where you will do internship, this may either be an original invitation letter from an authorized organization or telex number for an invitation telexed to the Russian consulate directly from an authorized organization
  • An document stating the details of your work in Russia
  • Most recent photograph following the photo specifications in this link
  • Medical Insurance policy minimum coverage of USD 35,000 stating your coverage in Russia
  • Other additional documentary requirements may still be asked upon submission in the nearest consulate in your area

 

How to apply:

  1. Collate all your documentary requirements.
  2. Visit and submit your documents in the Russian Embassy near you. You may check this list of Russian Embassies all over the world.
  3. Pay the necessary fees for the visa.
  4. Wait to be notified about your application or you may check online through this link.

Note: This type of visa may take 14 to 21 business days, so you must file your application ahead. It may also cost around $80 depending on the country from where you are applying. Should you find a job and may need to change your visa, you will have to leave Russia. Also note that your entry date should be no earlier than 5 days after the date of visa issuance.
