Reason for hiring:

Centre for Urban Transformation drives global impact and advances the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through coordinated local level action to enable more resilient and future-ready cities.

The Centre’s flagship initiative, the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance, brings public-private leaders together to accelerate the responsible adoption of technology to advance the SDGs within cities. This is achieved by strengthening city policies where technology is an enabler for urban transformation, sharing incentive mechanisms, and engaging global leaders to accelerate policy adoption and innovation.

The Centre is looking for a university graduate to support the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance’s areas of work including: (1) sustainability, particularly the creation of model policies and benchmarking assessments to help cities advance their net-zero goals, and (2) a global campaign on digital inclusion.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Support the team in successfully managing project and taskforce deliverables and community engagement for the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance.
  • Coordinate communication and engagement with key stakeholders including city, business, civil society, and academic leaders.
  • Support and coordinate high-profile events, workshops and meetings (both virtual and in-person) with key stakeholders and global leaders in urban transformation.
  • Conduct preliminary research and analysis of city policies and best practices to support the development of model policies.
