If you are to live in Brazil for a few months, securing yourself an apartment is something you may need to put as a top priority. Most Brazilians reside in urbanized places, thus, you can say that finding a place to stay within the city means you are also in competition with locals. Around 82 out of 100 locals also live within developed cities in Brazil and would also prefer renting. Most rental ads will lead you to its owner or a rental agency where long-term contracts are the most common transaction. Long-term rentals are stays that are more than 30 days and are done with a notarized lease contract that will require you at least two to three months' deposit. On the other hand, short-term rentals that are less than 30 days often do not require a contract and a deposit. When you are about to sign a lease contract, don’t forget to bring with you a ready copy of your ID and passport, and should the agency require, just secure a copy of your visa as well.
