Visitor Visa in Germany

Several countries would not need to secure a tourist visa to visit Germany. You may find the complete list of those countries that are visa-free and those who still need to secure a visa in this link. If you require a visa to travel to Germany for a little bit of leisure, a conference, or for merely an exploration then you should secure a German Tourist Visa. The following documents may be required of you when getting this type of visa:

  • Fully accomplished and signed German Tourist Visa Application Form
  • (2) Two pieces of identical photographs that are no older than three months and taken with consideration to the ICAO Standards
  • Passport that contains at least two blank pages and is not more than 10 years old. Validity of the passport should be 6 months after the date of exit from Germany or Schengen territory
  • Bring copies of your previous visa are available
  • Bring all previous passports
  • Marriage Certificate if applicable
  • Health Insurance confirmation from your provider assuring your coverage of at least EUR30,000 throughout the Schengen territory
  • Proof of financial means such as bank statements, payment statements, or a sponsorship letter from a person residing in Germany who will be financially sponsoring you
  • Letter of invitation from your host in Germany, with a copy of their passport and proof of residence
  • Proof of relationship with your host in Germany
  • Proof of roundtrip ticket reservation
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Proof of payment for the visa application fee

  1. Collate all your documents and check for other relevant documents that will help prove your ability to sustain your visit to the country.
  2. Set an appointment with the German embassy or consulate near you. You may check the details of German Embassies worldwide through this link.
  3. Pay application fee of EUR75.
  4. Prepare for the interview on your scheduled date.
