Interview Tips in Sweden
If you are about to land in your first interview, take a deep breath and take note of the tips below:
Tip 1: For men, a collar shirt with fine cloth that doesn’t look worn out should be your best option. For women, be sure you wear conservative corporate clothing matched with sandals that will keep you comfortable. Remember, good first impressions can already win you some favor!
Tip 2: Mind your gestures. Remember the handshake? Yes, this is the perfect time to do that firm handshake that is matched with eye contact. When you speak, avoid too much non-verbal communication (swaying and waving of hands) as it may irritate your interviewer. Maintain a good posture, one that is not stiff but also not lousy.
Tip 3: Be straightforward. Answer the questions without adding too many irrelevant details. Make sure your interviewer hears your main points and don’t hesitate to ask if the message that came across was clear. If you’re given a chance, extend your interest in the company by asking questions about its culture and environment inside. And don’t forget, never brag, keep your tone low but audible.
If you’re a good candidate, chances are the HR personnel will give you a call within a week or two. However, if time is of the essence and you will be deciding among several job options, it won’t hurt to ask your interviewer in the end if you can shoot a follow-up email after a week.
