Visitor Visa in Sweden
If you are considered an EU or Nordic national, you again need not to secure a visa anymore. But if you are a third-country national and are only visiting Sweden for leisure and travel, you may need to seek some help from someone you know in Sweden. You will be required to secure an invitation letter from a family member or a friend who will be able to provide a local address and phone number. Here are the requirements that may be asked from you on your application:
- A passport valid for at least 3 months after your Schengen visa expiration date, issued in the last ten years, with at least two empty pages
- A comprehensive description of your itinerary, including places you plan to visit and stay in
- An invitation from a family member or a friend who stays in Sweden
- Proof of funds that is enough to support your costs of stay and your roundtrip fare going home. (Sweden requires funds equivalent to 450 SEK a day for the whole duration of your trip)
- An individual travel insurance that has coverage on medical emergency treatments, immediate medical care, or transportation costs that will allow you to go home should medical interventions be required to be administered in your home country
- A supporting document that will reflect your intention to leave Sweden and the Schengen region on the last day before your visa expires
- A most recent passport-size photo, taken within the past six months
- You may also need to secure a bank statement of the last 6 months and some copies of your passport
- Other supporting documents the embassy may deem necessary for your type of application
