About GitGuardian
Among our early investors who saw our market value proposition, are the co-founder of GitHub, Scott Chacon, along with Solomon Hykes, Docker's co-founder. American and European top-tier VC firms have also invested in GitGuardian.
GitGuardian helps companies protect their sensitive information, like passwords and API keys, from being accidentally exposed in their code. Imagine a developer building a mobile app for a bank. To connect the app to the bank’s servers, they use an API key—like a secret passcode. But if they accidentally leave that key inside the code and it gets shared online, hackers could find it, access the bank’s client database, and even execute wire transfers. GitGuardian works like a security alarm—it scans code, spots these leaked secrets, and alerts the team so they can fix them before it’s too late.
This might sound like an obvious mistake no one would make, but we recently found 254,000 leaked secrets inside the code of just one Fortune 100 client! Our solutions are already used by more than 600K developers worldwide.
