Who are we?
ECDPM is a leading independent ‘think and do tank’ that wants to make policies in Europe and Africa work for inclusive and sustainable development. We have two offices: one in Maastricht and one in Brussels.
Our more than 50 staff members from over 28 countries worldwide provide independent research, advice and practical support to policymakers, advisors and practitioners in Europe, Africa and beyond. Our focus is on EU foreign policy and policies related to digital affairs, climate and green transformation, peace and security, migration, governance, sustainable food systems, regional integration, business, finance and trade.
What will you be doing?
Depending on availability and capacity, any of our departments may accept interns. Therefore, the areas of development and tasks vary.
Research internship in our (1) People, Partnerships and Peace Team or (2) African Economies and Climate Action Team, may include the following:
- Conducting policy analysis and contributing to evidence-based research to support the preparation and development of policy briefs and internal reports
- Assisting in the organisation, coordination and documentation of internal and external events (e.g. workshops, panel discussions, roundtables)
- Supporting daily operational tasks within the department
- Participating in team meetings and contributing to internal knowledge-sharing processes
- Follow key policy processes and developments, share and summarise policy documents, set up interviews, take notes, and contribute background material for policy briefs and social media outreach
- Help prepare presentations and training materials for external stakeholders
- Attend conferences and webinars and report back
Outreach and Impact internship
- Help with editing and proofreading of our communication outputs
- Analyse innovative outreach opportunities and keep track of our current outreach
- Help us plan and coordinate our work
- Update ECDPM’s website
- Organise and communicate about ECDPM events
- Prepare internal newsletters and help with our external newsletter
- Improve our communications across the board
- Help create impactful events and multimedia (podcasts, videos, etc)
- Support our social media activities
- Design materials for our outreach
Business Administration internship
- Support financial and administrative processes, including document preparation and filing
- Support HR-related administrative processes (onboarding documentation, internal procedures, records management)
- Help maintain internal systems and databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date records
- Contribute to improving internal workflows and organisational efficiency
Institutional Relations and Partnerships internship
- Support the coordination and preparation of institutional engagements, meetings, and events
- Assist in updating and maintaining the experts and contacts databases
- Support monitoring of relevant policy and funding developments at the EU and international level
- Help prepare presentations and materials for external meetings and partnership discussions
- Provide occasional support during proposal preparation processes
- Contribute to the drafting and editing of briefing notes, background documents, and internal reports
Depending on your experience and in accordance with the needs of ECDPM’s other teams, other activities may be assigned to your portfolio as well.
