Introducing Taiwan
Taiwan is a country in East Asia with a relatively small coverage of only 36,193 square kilometers in western Pacific Ocean. Geographically speaking, the country has a mountainous eastern region and sloping plains in its west side. Since Taiwan is an island on its own, it is also surrounded by huge bodies of water, it’s coastline stretches up to 1,566.3 kilometers, making most places inside the country just nearby the East China Sea, Bashi Channel and the Pacific Ocean.
The country was once the center of major trades in East Asia, allowing its continuous economic growth prior to 1945. Although Taiwan experienced an economic decline thereafter, it was able to bounce back in the 1990s, and was resilient enough to have a steady growth amidst several financial crises. Although severely affected by the 2008 financial crisis, it is now continuously growing economically, through its industrial manufacturing, exportations of electronics, machineries, and petrochemicals. Taiwan is also a renowned major participant in the global economy in terms of information and communication technology.
